PRO BIKE CHECK: 5 V-PRi AT THE IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN KONA

It’s almost time for the “Big Dance,” the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona. Our male athletes already raced in Nice, France, last month, and now it’s time for the women to put on a show on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the final year of the split championships, so it’s the last time the women are going to have triathlon’s most iconic race venue all to themselves, and our team is ready to bring the heat!
This year, Quintana Roo is incredibly proud to have four pro and factory team athletes representing us in Kona: Alice Alberts, Haley Chura, Fiona Moriarty, and Jana Uderstadt. We also want to say congratulations to any and all Quintana Roo athletes who have qualified! If you’re at the event, be sure to stop by the Quintana Roo booth to check out our latest equipment and receive free bike services.
In anticipation of all the race action this weekend, let’s meet our pro athletes and take a closer look at the bikes they’ll use to battle for World Championship glory on the legendary Queen K. All four will be riding our flagship V-PRi triathlon bike—the world’s fastest IRONMAN bike—which should give them an edge against tough winds and even tougher competition.
Alice Alberts’ Quintana Roo V-PRi

Alice Alberts began her IRONMAN career as an age-grouper, but her natural talent shone through with overall age group victories at Ironman Coeur d’Alene and Ironman Texas in 2021, and third overall age group finish at the IRONMAN World Championships that same year. She left her job as a nurse practitioner and turned pro a year later. Alberts qualified for Kona this April with a 4th-place finish at the IRONMAN Texas North American Championship.

Alberts’ V-PRi is painted in Pro White with Ice Blue graphics. She’s maximizing drivetrain efficiency with big 54/40t chainrings paired with CeramicSpeed’s OSPW Aero ALPHA system, which covers the oversized pulley wheels with an aero fairing that CeramicSpeed claims reduces drag on the rear derailleur by up to 60%. One thing I found interesting is that she’s using a very well-used Prologo saddle. All the logos are worn off, and the rails have a bit of corrosion on them, but she has clearly found her perfect perch and has stuck with it!
Haley Chura’s Quintana Roo V-PRi

- Wheels: HED Vanquish Pro V62 (front) / HED Jet 180 (rear)
- Tires: Continental GP5000 S TR, 28mm
- Cockpit: Quintana Roo IIC + Vision Metron TFE Pro Extensions
- Drivetrain: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, 52/36t, 165mm
- Power Meter: 4iiii PRECISION 3+ PRO
- Pulley Cage: Ceramicspeed OSPW RS Alpha
- Pedals: Garmin Rally RS200
- Saddle: ISM PN 4.1
- Front Hydration: Quintana Roo FuelBay

Haley Chura was a former NCAA Division I swimmer at the University of Georgia, and she has competed in the 2004 and 2008 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, as well as the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. She is widely regarded as one of triathlon’s fastest swimmers and is well known as the co-host of the IronWomen Podcast. She qualified for Kona at the IRONMAN Texas North American Championship with a 7th-place finish. Her V-PRi is one of the most recognizable in the pro field with its Dynamo Green paint and Neon Yellow graphics, and it’s complemented by Chura’s matching bright green and pink kit.

Chura has optimized her bike for Kona with the HED Jet 180 rear wheel, which HED claims is the “fastest non-disc rear wheel on the market.” The ultra-deep rim was developed specifically for Kona, which doesn’t allow the use of disc wheels due to strong winds. Interestingly, Chura has two power meters on her bike with the 4iiii’s PRECISION 3+ dual-sided crank-based power and Garmin’s Rally pedals. We’ll have to ask her later if she’s actually using data from both!
Fiona Moriarty’s Quintana Roo V-PRi

- Wheels: Vision Metron 91 SL
- Tires: Continental GP5000 TT TR, 25mm (front) / Continental GP5000 S TR, 28mm (rear)
- Cockpit: Quintana Roo IIC + Vision Metron TFE Team Edition Extensions
- Drivetrain: SRAM RED AXS 1x, 54t
- Crankset: Croder SPIRIT Modular G2, 155mm
- Power Meter: Quarq
- Pulley Cage: Ceramicspeed OSPW Aero ALPHA
- Pedals: Shimano Dura-Ace
- Saddle: ISM PS1.1
-
Front Hydration: Quintana Roo FuelBay™ + TriRig BTA Rail & Riser

Irish pro triathlete Fiona Moriarty is a member of our new Factory Team, and she was the first QR athlete to qualify this year, with a 2nd-place finish at IRONMAN Brazil in January. Her V-PRi is painted in Pro White with Holo Blue graphics.

Moriarty is our only athlete running a 1x drivetrain this year, and she’s gone with a SRAM RED AXS setup with a big 54t aero chainring and Ceramicspeed OSPW Aero ALPHA system, which should be extremely efficient. Instead of standard SRAM cranks, she is using a set of cranks from Croder, which produces shorter crank arm options for riders seeking a more progressive bike setup.
Jana Uderstadt’s Quintana Roo V-PRi

- Wheels: DT Swiss ARC 1400 Dicut 62/80
- Tires: Continental GP5000 TT TR, 25mm (front) / Continental GP5000 S TR, 28mm (rear)
- Cockpit: Quintana Roo IIC + Vision Metron TFE Pro Extensions
- Drivetrain: Shimano Ultegra Di2, 160mm
- Chainrings: cSixx, 54/39t
- Power Meter: Ultegra R8100 power meter
- Pedals: Look Keo Blade Carbon
- Saddle: gebioMized Area
- Front Hydration: Quintana Roo FuelBay™ + BTA Bottle System
- Rear Hydration: EZ Gains Hydro

German Jana Uderstadt is another member of our new Factory Team. She kicked off her 2025 campaign in style by qualifying for Kona in March with a 6th-place finish at IRONMAN South Africa. Her V-PRi is painted in Pro White with Holo Black graphics. I’m personally calling her the “people’s champ” because she has what is perhaps the most relatable bike build of all our pro athletes.

Uderstadt is riding a Shimano Ultegra Di2 drivetrain with DT Swiss ARC 1400 wheels. These add a bit of weight and lose a bit of bling, but they sacrifice almost no performance compared to the top-of-the-line offerings and are much more affordable. Unlike Dura-Ace, Ultegra cranks aren’t available with larger chainrings, so Uderstadt has gone with cSixx for a set of machined aluminum 54/39t chainrings. On the rear, she’s using the same EZ Gains Hydro bottle holder that Kristian Høgenhaug used on his V-PRi to smash the IRONMAN bike course record earlier this year.
Jodie Robertson’s Quintana Roo V-PRi

- Wheels: HED Vanquish Pro V62 (front) / HED Vanquish Pro V82 (rear)
- Tires: Continental GP5000 TT TR, 28mm
- Cockpit: Quintana Roo IIC + Vision Metron TFE Pro Extensions
- Drivetrain: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, 165mm
- Chainrings: AeroCoach Aten DUAL, 54/40t
- Pulley Cage: CeramicSpeed OSPW X
- Pedals: Favero Assioma DUO
- Saddle: JCOB Delta 38
- Front Hydration: Quintana Roo FuelBay™ + BTA Universal Kit
- Rear Hydration: XLAB Delta 200 XT

Jodie Robertson is a longtime QR pro as well as a former competitive distance runner. She was one of the prototype test athletes for our V-PRi, giving us critical feedback during development. What’s even more impressive is that she has a day job, both as an elementary school music and band teacher and as a coach for the Lightning Warriors Youth Triathlon Team. This World Championship is extra special because it is also the final race of her pro career.

Robertson’s V-PRi is painted in Pro White with Holo Red graphics. Her V-PRi build hasn’t changed much since she helped us perfect it two years ago. Her bike still has the CeramicSpeed OSPW X system and ceramic bottom bracket upgrades it originally came with. (The OSPW X has since been replaced with the OSPW RS on the current V-PRi.) My favorite part of Robertson’s build, though, is the big 54/40t AeroCoach Aten chainrings, which improve aerodynamics and also look freaking awesome.
