AMERICAN BICYCLE GROUP CEO PETER HURLEY PASSES AWAY AT 67
Chattanooga, TN (July 19, 2024) – It’s with tremendous sadness we share the news that Peter Hurley, CEO of The American Bicycle Group, passed away from a heart attack while on a morning run. He was 67.
A steward of the Quintana Roo, Litespeed and OBED brands, Peter was a beloved figure within the triathlon and cycling communities. Peter was an avid triathlete and cyclist, taking a daily hands-on approach to the business he led for the past 18 years.
A dedicated endurance athlete, Hurley was frequently on the start line at events around the world, including Ironman and 70.3 races, and had a burgeoning passion for gravel riding, taking part in events including SBT GRVL and Unbound Gravel, with a finish at Unbound as recently as June 1.
Peter was exceptionally proud of the fact that the business put groceries on the table of over 80 employees' families, and that his work enabled a fun and healthy lifestyle for countless athletes over the years.
