Quintana Roo Leads the Pro Series after IRONMAN Kalmar

Our pros took on IRONMAN Kalmar in Sweden last Saturday to chase some of the final Pro Series points available. And boy did they get 'em! Let's start with the women, because we've arguably got the best pro women in the sport.

IRONMAN Kalmar podium

Katrine Christensen didn't successfully defend her title from a year ago, but finishing an impressive second overall (pictured above on the podium) in Kalmar means she is now leading the IRONMAN Pro Series points list. What does that mean for the rest of our strong ladies?

IRONMAN Pro Series women's leaders

This is the cool part: Quintana Roo pros are now in first place with Katrine Christensen, second place with Grace Thek, and third place with Marta Sánchez. Yes, the series points can still change, but Quintana Roo has never had representation this strong at the front of the pro field!

Katrine Christensen IRONMAN Kalmar finish

Christensen embraced by her family after IRONMAN Kalmar.

There are several months to go until the season points are finalized with The Big Dance in Kona. But we're damn proud to be holding the top three spots headed into the World Champs.

IRONMAN Pro Series men's leaders

About the men: while a seventh-place finish wasn't what he hoped for, Matt Hanson has to be happy, especially considering he got off the bike in 40th place. To run into the top 10, he's stoked, and we're stoked. Another thing to be stoked about: Matt is now No. 1 in the men's Pro Series! Again, the stats can certainly change before the year ends, but the top is a nice place to be!

Another male racing in Kalmar was Factory Team pro Andy Krueger. He was hoping for a Kona slot but missed by just a few positions, finishing ninth overall. Still, the result vaulted him into 16th in the Pro Series. The form and confidence are coming with Andy...

A podium sweep for the women and the current top step for the men? Not a bad place for Quintana Roo!
