QR ATHLETES AND THEIR FAVORITE STRAVA SEGMENTS

In the world of professional triathlon, every pedal stroke counts. For these elite athletes, training isn't just a means to an end—it's a way of life. And in the age of digital fitness tracking, platforms like Strava have become indispensable tools for measuring progress, pushing limits, and finding that extra edge. So, we asked our QR Athletes what their favorite Strava segments are, and here's what they told us.
Miguel Mattox - Stinson to base of BoFax
"There are so many great climbs in our area, but I've chosen this pancake flat segment that basically gets you from one climb to the next. The segment takes you alongside a huge stretch of iconic lagoon, where there are always thousands of coastal birds, seals, and fellow cyclists; all in awe of the natural beauty. It's one of those rare places that never looks bad, no matter the lighting, weather, or time of day. You can go easy and take in the scenery, or push it – almost 20,000 different cyclists have recorded their effort on Strava, and I have the Course Record :)"
Jenna Haufler - Bolinas-Fairfax Road
"The BoFax (Bolinas-Fairfax road) Climb his is the absolute best climb in the Marin County, starting from the Bolinas lagoon at sea level and finishing at about 1500ft at the beginning of the Seven Sisters overlooking the Pacific ocean. It's a perfect average 7% grade for 4 miles (making it great for a longer effort, but not too steep to be a low-cadence slog), has minimal car traffic, and brings you through 3-4 gorgeous microclimates as you climb to the top. It's not an easy segment, but it's always worth it."
Arthur Horseau - Esérel
"I was able to ride this in a race and the roads were closed. But I'll tell you, the view is just sooooooo great. You're on the rolling roads, the sea by your side, the mountains, and the colors are great. If you have a chance to to see the sunrise as that same moment, it's amazing. It's also an atypical ride because the first part is a classic mountain. Then the terrain begins to smooth out, and it's a bit flatter in the middle. It's a bit technical as well. On a tri bike you have to have a few skills."
Haley Chura - Hyalite Climb - Gate to Dam
"My favorite Strava segment is an 8 mile climb to a local reservoir. Riding hill repeats on the Hyalite Climb has made me a lot stronger over the years. The route winds up the canyon toward a mountain reservoir. I've seen moose, bear, and a lot of rock climbers. At the top, the views of the lake are spectacular!"
Alice Alberts - Beede Flats TT
"A rare flat stretch of road in an otherwise extremely hilly area, this almost 4 mile quiet stretch of road is absolutely perfect for an all our TT effort. I love competing with my brothers for who has the fastest time in the family, which I currently hold ;)"
