A former collegiate swimmer at Fordham University in New York, Mattox found triathlon as an age grouper and scored quick success, with age group wins at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, and runner-up finishes at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside and 70.3 Chattanooga in 2022.
Miguel accepted his pro card in 2023 and has been cutting his teeth on the Ironman 70.3 and Challenge Family circuits, with a number of top-10 results—each getting the pre-race planning and post-race assessment shared on YouTube as half of the Freestyle Tri Youtube channel alongside partner (and fellow QR athlete) Jenna Haufler, where the two chronicle their paths in training, racing, nutrition and more.
