Your Bike, Your Color: How to Choose the Perfect Quintana Roo Paint

Most triathlon brands only give you a handful of colorways to choose from. But at Quintana Roo, we do things differently. We offer more color options than any other triathlon brand, and every frame is painted to order right at our headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We've employed some of the most experienced professional painters in the industry and use the highest-quality automotive-grade paints chosen for both longevity and looks. The end result is a unique and beautiful bike that's genuinely yours.

There's a practical upside for triathletes too: a truly distinctive bike is easier to spot in a crowded transition area. When you're charging into T1, the last thing you want is to waste precious seconds scanning through a row of identical black-and-white bikes. With a QR, the chances of lining up next to an identical bike are pretty slim! Learn more about our paint and decal options, and explore hundreds of different color combos using our custom bike builders. Maybe you'll find the perfect color to match your ambition and achieve your next PR!

What Makes QR Paint Colors Unique

Quintana Roo Moon Gem paint

Moon Gem

All of the paints Quintana Roo uses are automotive grade and originally developed for premier brands like Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. Essentially, we are using the best paint on the market and choosing colors that are trending among designers and enthusiasts in both the automotive and cycling worlds.

Our paint options can be broken down into a few basic types:

Quintana Roo Monaco Yellow paint

Monaco Yellow

Premium Gloss colors are clean, saturated, and confident. Colors like Monaco Yellow, Ruby Star, Electric Blue, Moon Gem, Rosso Corsa, and Cool Mint are pure, vivid, and striking in direct light. These are the colors that photograph beautifully and turn heads on the course.

Quintana Roo Caribbean Blue Pearl paint

Caribbean Blue Pearl

Premium Metallics add a hint of sparkle or a metallic sheen for more depth and movement. Colors like Caribbean Blue Pearl, Kinetic (a rich purple), Podium Gold, Podium Green, Venom Green, Micah Diamond, and Meteoric Dust all shift subtly as the light changes. They're not flashy in an obvious way, but they reward a closer look and shine brightest in direct sunlight.

Quintana Roo Prism paint

Prism

Studio finishes sit in a category of their own. We’ll sometimes offer special colors like Prism, a metallic paint that shifts through grey, purple, and white depending on the angle. It’s a genuinely chameleon-like finish that looks different on every ride, and is perfect for the most ostentatious riders.

Quintana Roo stealth paint

Stealth

Flat finishes are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Stealth (matte black) and other matte finishes are for athletes who want to stay understated and purposeful. Zero shine means a clean, aggressive look with no fuss.

Decal Options Designed for Your Frame Color

Quintana Roo decal options

When you choose a frame color in the QR bike builder, you'll notice that the available decal colors aren't the same across every paint option, and that's intentional. It comes down to basic color theory. We want to give athletes freedom, but certain bright or saturated decal colors can clash badly with equally saturated frame colors. To make it easier to pick combinations that look great, QR designers have curated the decal options for each frame color, offering choices that are either harmonious or appropriately contrasting. The result is that every available combination is a good one; you just get to decide what kind of good.

Quintana Roo Podium green paint

Podium Green with Studio NEXT Meteoric Dust Painted Decals. White or Podium gold are the high contrast options.

Subtle and tonal decals that are closer to your frame color create an understated, cohesive look. The logos are still there, but they blend into the overall aesthetic rather than competing with it. This works beautifully when your frame color is already doing a lot of work. A deep metallic like Viola Purple or Micah has so much visual depth and movement that dark-toned decals let the paint take center stage. Even a "holo" decal option can blend into the right shade of paint (e.g., blue holo on a blue metallic paint). This creates the kind of bike that rewards a close look rather than demanding attention. Tonal decals also tend to age better stylistically, which might matter when you're riding the same bike for many seasons.

Quintana Roo Ruby Star paint

Roby Star with White Graphic Decals. Black, Ruby Star Dark, and Ruby Star Light are the subtle and tonal options.

High contrast decals are for when you want your bike to pop. Choosing a decal color with maximum contrast against your frame, like white decals on a dark frame color, gives the bike a sharp, graphic energy. The logos become a feature rather than a detail. This is a great choice if you love the bold liveries seen on pro race bikes, or if you simply want something that's unmistakable on course and in transition. For riders who want to take it even further, QR also offers holographic "holo" decal options, an oil-slick, rainbow-shifting finish that catches light in a way no solid color can. Holo decals work especially well on darker frames like Stealth, Jet, or Onyx, where the iridescence really pops, but their multi-tonal nature means they play well with almost any frame color without clashing.

Studio NEXT V-PRi two-tone paint

The exclusive Studio NEXT multi-color schemes pair Wind Chill Pearl with a second premium finish: Caribbean Blue, Meteoric Dust, Mica Diamond, Podium Gold, or Podium Green in a scheme inspired by our custom special edition IRONMAN bikes

Instead of using Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers for decals like most production bikes, Studio NEXT bikes take things to the next level with painted logos. Painting small details like this requires extra time and an expert hand, but it provides the cleanest, most durable, and most aesthetic finish possible.

The final touch that truly sets Studio NEXT bikes apart is the fully painted cockpit, which is perfectly color-matched to the chosen frame paint, accent color, or decal color. This makes Studio NEXT bikes uniquely stunning, giving them a premium look and feel that can’t be achieved with “normal” colorways. It’s a key part of how Quintana Roo can color to express your ambition.
