Forza Campy: The First Campagnolo V-PRi Debuts at Kona

Quintana Roo is going Italian, and we're not talking about carb-loading. Campagnolo, the legendary Italian groupset manufacturer, will be available next year on our flagship V-PRi. We're combining Campagnolo's Italian flair and huge range of gearing options with record-breaking aerodynamics to give athletes more ways to maximize their performance. We're excited to introduce the first-ever Campagnolo-equipped V-PRi at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona.

Here's your sneak peek. Now let's explain why this bike is so special...

What You Need to Know About Campagnolo

If you're a triathlete, Campagnolo (affectionately known as "Campy" in the US and "Campag" in the UK) may not be a name you hear often. In road racing, though, it is legendary. Tullio Campagnolo, a racing cyclist in 1920s Italy, started the company in a Vicenza workshop in 1933. His first product was the quick-release skewer, invented after he lost a cold race because he couldn't remove his wheel to fix a flat. Campagnolo has since gone on to create over 100 other patented cycling systems, technologies, and designs, and it dominated the highest level of the sport for decades.

Campagnolo's trophy case includes 43 Tour de France victories, 30 Giro d'Italia titles, and 30 World Championships. The greatest (male) cyclist of all time, Eddy Merckx, won his first four Tours de France with Campagnolo's Nuovo Record rear derailleur. His one challenger for the title of greatest cyclist of all time, Tadej Pogačar, won back-to-back Tours in 2020 and 2021 on Super Record EPS.

Campy has long been known for obsessive craftsmanship, beautiful design, and a deep racing pedigree. For many, the brand itself represents the deepest passion for the sport. That sounds a bit like Quintana Roo, right? Now all of that is available on the fastest triathlon bike in the world.

Meet the New Super Record 13 V-PRi

Studio NEXT V-PRi Campagnolo Super Record 13

Our first Campagnolo V-PRi is a Studio NEXT V-PRi equipped with Super Record 1x13, Campy's latest flagship wireless drivetrain. The Super Record 13 platform launched in 2025 and includes a 1x13 road option that uses a Nano Clutch to keep the chain tensioned. On this V-PRi, it's paired with Campagnolo's aero chainring (a massive 58t in this case) and an HPPM power meter (designed by SRM), so you get a clean, aerodynamic 1x setup with super accurate data.

Out back, the Super Record X rear derailleur is a gorgeous piece of engineering, featuring carbon fiber construction and Campagnolo's Nano Clutch, a miniaturized clutch that maintains ideal chain tension. Here we've installed the 9x42t Titanium Cassette. This setup offers a huge 58x9t top gear for the highest possible top speed, showing the maximum potential for this drivetrain. Of course, Campagnolo Super Record offers near-endless options in terms of gearing, so athletes will be able to fully customize their drivetrain to suit their specific needs.

One of the biggest features of 13-speed is the tighter gear spacing. Many of the new 13-speed cassettes offer nine one-tooth jumps between gears. That makes it easier to hold your ideal cadence on long, steady sections like the Queen K, where you spend hours trying to maintain a rhythm. Campagnolo also says the new platform shifts roughly 47% faster on downshifts and 36% faster on upshifts than its previous Super Record Wireless.

Up front, the V-PRi's Fast TT Pro-X1 aerobar and Intelligent Integration Cockpit (IIC) get the full Super Record treatment, with wireless electronic shifters and hydraulic disc brakes.

V-Pri Super Record 13 Bora WTO wheels

When you have a Campy drivetrain, you have to get some matching Campy wheels, so rounding out the build is a set of Bora WTO 60 C23 wheels. The Bora name has written three decades of history in elite cycling, and this latest generation was completely redesigned in the wind tunnel and field-tested by top pros. The carbon rims are 60mm deep with a 23mm internal width to work with wider tires, including tubeless. It's a versatile and aero-optimized package perfect for the Queen K and beyond.

What are your thoughts?

So how does it ride? The Super Record 13 platform is wickedly fast and precise, just like any top-tier drivetrain should be. Every drivetrain has its own character, and for me, Campy has always had the most pleasing and crisp feel. The sound and action of its shifts sit somewhere between Shimano and SRAM. It's not the buttery silence of Shimano or the mechanical clunk of SRAM. It's more of a subtle "snick." To me, riding Campy is deeply satisfying and characteristically Italian in the way it makes your bike feel alive. (But that might just be the romantic Campy fan in me talking.)

V-Pri Super Record 13 Tricolour

Speaking of characteristically Italian, no Campy-equipped bike would be complete without a little patriotic flair. That's why Campagnolo V-PRi frames will all feature a special Italian Tricolour painted under the V-PRi logo, giving it the full Italian treatment. One thing is for sure: when you bring this bike to T1, all the bike geeks are going to be craning their necks to get a look. Molto Bene! Bellissima!

You'll be able to order a Campagnolo V-PRi in early 2027, and pricing will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, follow along with us on Instagram for more from Kona. Ciao!
