Forget the Norwegians and the Germans; the new home of powerhouse cycling in triathlon lives in Denmark.
He's built a name for himself in the past few years, but the 2025 season was the year Danish powerhouse Kristian Høgenhaug truly broke through cemented his name among the top cyclists—and triathletes—in the sport. It started with a victory at Challenge Family's The Championship event. he followed that up with a career-defining accomplishment: earning the fastest-ever Ironman bike split, tearing through the IRONMAN Frankfurt course in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 10 seconds on his way to a second-place overall finish.
It was on the back of that result—along with another runner-up finish at Ironman Lake Placid—that earned him the season-long Ironman Pro Series podium, taking third—testament to a 2025 race season packed with incredible results.
Despite his towering persona, Kristian remains a relatable figure in the sport, having come up through the ranks as an age group athlete. He's also become one of the most affable, with a social media feed full of memes and self-effacing banter that has made him a true favorite among fans.
What to Watch For in 2026
Third in the IRONMAN Pro Series? An IRONMAN bike split record? Psh—that was just the start.
Again, Kristian focuses on the IRONMAN Pro Series, with a goal of moving to the top of the season-long competition. That means bigger wins. He'll be kicking off his season campaign at Ironman Texas. While a win in the IRONMAN series is a focus, so too is a move into the Top 5—or better—at the Hawaii IRONMAN World Championships in October.
